December 4th was a big day for Joe and Carl. After months of planning, building, stocking, displaying, complaining about aches and pains and loving every minute of it, they had their official Grand Opening Celebration. Kim Sherman, Membership Services Liaison for the Irvine Chamber of Commerce, orchestrated a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. Helping Joe and Carl with the big scissors were Councilman Dr. Steven Choi, Cheryl Honig, Representative for Mayor Agran, Ambassadors Jan Gissel and Robert Schiff, Michelson Marketplace fellow merchants, friends and family. The paparazzi were there too, snapping away and getting Cara, Evan and Schnoozer in the act.

We want to extend our thanks to LuAnn Schwab from Blooms & Bears for a good luck arrangement with seashells, origami fish, and tropical flowers that took our breath away. Her creative masterpiece couldn’t have been more perfect. Jennifer O’Hair, from Cookie Inspirations, designed a cookie with edible seashells, coral, and seahorses that looked as good as they tasted. Jennifer bakes custom cookies and cakes, gives cookie decorating classes, and when it comes to cookies, is in a class by herself. Our new neighbor, Julie Lim, who had her grand opening of the OC Wine Mart on December 10th, brought us two exquisite bottles of champagne. No, we did not break one over the door handle. And topping it off that weekend was the drawing for a Zeagle Envoy Regulator. The name pulled from the hat was 13-year-old Rob Nelsen, who has just started taking his Junior Open Water Scuba classes. He was stoked!
Thank you all who came by to visit and wish us well Grand Opening Weekend. It’s good to be back!

We’ve been to a lot of wonderful places, and there have been quite a few people who have been there with us. So it was a particular challenge this year to select a destination that could meet the high expectations of divers spoiled by the likes of Lembeh, Palau and Borneo. No ordinary destination would do. We had to pick someplace spectacular! And after doing our research, I know we have. Wakatobi!
It has it all. Luxurious accommodations, exquisite food, perfect weather, and of course, truly remarkable diving. Wakatobi has a diversity and abundance of sea life to thrill even the most well traveled diver. For photographers, it is paradise—wide angle, macro, big fish, minuscule and rare. Les Kaufman, Professor of Biology at the Boston University Marine Program & Center for Ecology and Conservation Biology, counted 301 fish species on a single dive at the house reef!!!
So 2010, we’re going to Wakatobi, a place like no other.

Round trip airfare Cathay Pacific LAX to Bali
Roundtrip private charter flight between Bali and Wakatobi

It’s like Facebook but better! Unlike Facebook, DiversOne is a small community and it’s exclusively for divers, especially those who love to take pictures of their adventures. Members post their pictures (topside, underwater, still and video, all are welcome), and get to share them with others. Come see and share!
